Kubuntu/KDE Configuration
Once you have installed Kubuntu SE, use the following steps to configure it. Take a look at the screenshots page to see what each theme looks like.
Desktop Wallpaper
Right-click the desktop and select "Configure Desktop...".
In the Background section, click the File icon next to the Picture option to browse for wallpaper.
KDM Login Theme
Edit the KDM config file as root using your favourite editor, something like:
kdesu kate /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc
There are four themes to choose from. Add the following lines and uncomment the theme you require:
#Theme=/usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/Satanic Theme=/usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/SE-Glass #Theme=/usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/SE-Bat #Theme=/usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/SE-Baphomet #Theme=/usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/Skulls
KSplash Theme
Use the Splash Screen Theme Manager in System Settings->Look & Feel->Splash Screen to select one of the SE themes.
IMPORTANT: For a seemless transition between KDM and the splash screen, you must also set the default KDM background correctly:
kdesu kate /etc/kde3/kdm/backgroundrc
Add the following lines and uncomment the correct line for your theme:
#Wallpaper=/usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/Satanic/background.png Wallpaper=/usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/SE-Glass/SE-Glass-KDM.png #Wallpaper=/usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/SE-Bat/SE-Bat-KDM.png #Wallpaper=/usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/SE-Baphomet/SE-Baphomet-KDM.png #Wallpaper=/usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/SE-Skulls/SE-Skulls-KDM.jpg
Screensaver
Right-click the desktop and select "Configure Desktop...".
In the Screensaver section, the SE screensaver is called Eternal Damnation.
Usplash Theme
This changes the image which is shown during boot-up. See the Configuration/Usplash page for details on how to select these themes.
See the Kubuntu Uninstall page.
