Live CD Beta Release
Help test the first Ubuntu Satanic Edition Live CD.
It includes the complete Ubuntu 8.04 operating system plus the dark and brooding Satanic theme. There is also a 30 minute EP of creative commons licensed music from the likes of StabWounD, Auvernia, Frontside, Skaut, Taste of Hell, Scape.Goat and Holy Pain.

Coming across this project made my day! Drooling over the screenshots at work is just increasing my need to get home and try this shit out. I am assuming that the music is metal (which I’m not all that into) but it’s cool that you found CC licensed music and I look forward to listen anyways. Linux daemons (demons) can finally feel at home!
By the way, why be afraid to use the “beta” version? Sure, things will only look better over time, but it’s not like desktop themes are going to cause security/performance/stability issues (well maybe in Windows..) and they are just as easy to remove as they are to install.

There should be no problems using the beta version. It was released as a beta because it was the first ever SE LiveCD. The desktop theme itself has been out over a year.
The final release will be almost identical (although based on 8.04.1).

congratulations for you modified distro but have you made any improvement on the os or it’s just the “satanic” look & music??
probably people need something like this days, a new look to the stablished things just to feel outside the normal good luck hope someday you realy get how things work on this planet….

Yes, it’s “just” the satanic look and music.
The hope is that the music may entice new users to boot the LiveCD and give the Ubuntu distribution a try. Conversely, people who are into Ubuntu may give the music a listen and like what they hear. We hope to spread Ubuntu and at the same time help up-and-coming artists who believe in freedom and have licensed their music as such.
I do know how things work on this planet and I don’t like what I see. You’re right, we are outside the norm. Freedom in software and music is not the norm. We hope to play our small part in changing that.
